Attendance In order to be an active and successful student, it’s vital that you are present for all class activities, thus promptness to class is expected. Students who do not arrive to class by the bell will be asked for a pass. Names of students who do not have passes will be submitted to the administration per school policy. Try your very best to be present at the beginning of the period.
Please also remember students are afforded twelve absences per semester. Students who exceed these totals for any reason may lose credit for the course.
Assignments In order to promote active learning, students are expected to submit all assignments on time. Those students who do not submit an assignment when originally requested may be subject to a penalty in score. Students who experience difficulty in completing assignments are encouraged to schedule a meeting time in order to arrange a ‘make-up’ plan.
Dress Code Students are expected to follow the school policy regarding dress code. Students perceived by the teacher to be in violation will be sent to the Assistant Principal’s office.
Language The language arts classroom encourages students to use their language in creative and artistic forms; however, students are also reminded to be cognizant of audience and setting within their communication encounters. Thus, students are expected to use language which is both expressive as well as respectful of the classroom environment and community. Students who choose to use inappropriate language will be subject to a conference and potential disciplinary measures.
